How to use a Cock Ring

Cock rings & erection stimulators are unique sex toys in the sense that they essentially act as blood flow “restrictors”. They are worn at the base of the penis and are designed to heighten and prolong an erection, as well as intensify orgasms. We’ve discussed them briefly before, citing them unsung hero’s in a prior post here  entitled “Cock rings – beautifully simple, yet enormously effective sex toys.”

Now, the almost outdated, but most common variety is the rubber cock ring, which is shaped like an O-ring washer – like the ones used in your garden hose – but larger. They are also available as leather straps and nylon ties, and are available in materials ranging from rubber to chrome. Some of the most popular categories include:

Rubber: These are flexible, making it relatively easy to fit into.

Chrome: A bit tougher to use. Chrome is not flexible, so you must be certain that you will be able to remove it.

Acrylic: Like the chrome, Acrylic is not flexible, so you must be careful.

Strap on: Usually made of leather and snap or tie into place. They come in a variety of styles, from a simple rope the user ties into place to leather straps adorned with studs. These are probably the safest because they are easy to remove.

Vibrating rings: Designed to stimulate both the user and their partner during intercourse. Usually made of jelly, the ring has an egg vibrator attached to it which comes into contact with the woman’s clitoris during intercourse. They can also be switched, so that the egg vibe stimulates the man’s scrotum.

Specialty Cock Rings: usually designed for the advanced user. They include varieties with names like the ball stretcher, divider, cock ring and ball stretcher combo, cock and ball harness and lock, and ball separator. They are often used as adornment as opposed to being used functionally during sex. For example, it’s impossible to have intercourse with the cock and ball harness and lock because the device virtually covers the entire penis.

Please note however, that we at Deeper Love currently choose not sell any cock rings that might be considered too restrictive or difficult to remove, those listed in our range would be considered mildly wild – but will still offer all the fun benefits – especially the vibrating types.

Using a Cock Ring

It may take a little practice to develop the proper technique. Basically, most of the cock rings available are designed to be used during sex, with the exception of some of the specialty cock rings mentioned above.

Cock rings are worn at the base of the penis, either in front or behind the scrotum (Behind means you will have to get your balls and penis through the ring). If going the behind scrotum route, start by placing the first testicle through the ring, followed by the second one. Follow by pulling the flaccid penis through the ring. It’s possible to do it with an erect penis, but it may take some practice or it can be dependent on the material (stretchy silicone ring will be fine, but a chrome ring won’t of course). The fit should be snug, but not too tight. During erection the fit should be about the same, if not a bit snugger. If you’re using a leather snap on or the “tie” variety, then simply snap or tie it into place. A word of caution: cock rings are designed to be used for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, so if it becomes uncomfortable remove it immediately.

Once the cock ring is in place you’re ready to go. It should be snug, and should inhibit the flow of blood from the penis back into your/his body.

Enjoy, remember to always be careful – and remove immediately after climax!
