Rewind a few years and the topic of spanking amongst friends was never mentioned unless you were talking about disciplining a child. Now consider that the subject of bondage, light BDSM or ´Who´s seen the latest 50 Shades of Grey Movie?´is suddenly a very open and not so scary nor a taboo topic that is found frequently to be discussed around the dinner table with friends.
In many ways I think this is positive – more discussion, means more understanding and of course, possibly even more fun to be had with your partner when experimenting in areas perhaps previously seen as rather dark and frightening. And whilst there are jokes a plenty, and negative press over the 50 Shades books – I believe that in context, it´s harmless fun. The reality is that sales speak volumes, and the community at large is becoming more open to new experiences. It doesn´t really matter if you enjoyed the material, the point is we´re talking more about our sexuality.
Because of this, I think there´s a certain level of thanks that needs giving to the recent media hype surrounding novels such as 50 Shades of Grey – for the simple reason that it´s making bondage play with our partners all that more the common-place. And may I even dare say – possibly contributing to opening more lines of communication within relationships?
Now back to the reason for our post in the first place – Spanking.
The erotic art of spanking is nothing new to us – it´s been around for a long, long time! Did you know that there are many representations of erotic spanking to be found in Victorian pornography and that there is artwork dating back to the 5th century BC depicting erotic flagellation*?
Without a doubt one of the most commonly queried about & discussed topics we´ve found to be is´Spanking´. It´s simple to try out, requiring nothing more than the palm of your hand and a willing partner ;) It´s also a nice taster or entry into the world of bondage and bdsm.
But how to get started? Follow our tips below on Spanking to get in on the action!
Equipment needed : You can begin with your hand, moving onto paddles & whips later should you wish. A few accessories are listed for your reference at the end.
For beginners :
Number one rule is to take it slow. For the first attempt, try the palm of the hand – and get into position, whether it be over your partners knee or other. Have your partner begin with light taps, slowly increasing the intensity of strokes. Remember to have your partner massage the spanked area with love and tenderness too!
Congratulations ! You´re spanking – or been spanked ;)
Ready to move up? Consider a paddle or flogger, moving onto whips & related after. We have a wide selection of accessories here but list a few faves below too.
